The hottest of summer holidays is nearly upon us… while searching for a unique perspective on Independence Day I stumbled across some comic submissions to The Studio Review that felt relevant… little did I know the two were connected.
Sweltering, lithely jarring, maddening in a way that usurps the bones – I nearly forget until it’s a day away, but I ensure I’m here, embedded in the crowds and longing for water while monolithic floats and banner-bearers turn onto Central Avenue.

Central Art Supply announces a Call to Artists, specifically photographers for an upcoming juried photo show to be exhibited at The Studio@620 in November 2011. This event is a continuation of the long running Juried Art Show series which has been a successful partnership between Central Art Supply and The Studio@620 since 2008. Students from Pinellas County Center for the Performing Arts will present “Extremities” by William Mastrosimone at The Studio@620 June 30-July 3, 2011. This play promises to be a challenging production for both the performers and the audience.

Zarra is currently editing St. Pete Beat, a full-length documentary that he hopes will be done this summer.
Photo by Christopher GuinnOn April 30, 2010, the City issued a request for information, seeking out proposals from companies interested in a three-year agreement for concession retail operations in the Mirror Lake Complex, which contains eleven buildings and additional structures – including the Shuffleboard Club. By June 8, 2010, the primary respondent was a group of individuals intending to form a limited liability company under the name of Mirror Lake Hospitality – created with the purpose to operate the new Sunshine City Grill.
On Wednesday, June 22, a public budget summit will occur at the Lake Vista Recreation Center from 6 to 8 p.m. It will be an opportunity for any interested member of the St. Petersburg community to ensure their input is received by the City Council regarding the fate of the Mirror Lake Complex and the community it currently sustains.
Parents magazine named the north beach at Ft. De Soto Park in Tierre Vierde, the best beach for families in their 2011 ranking.
