This past Friday the University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP) hosted “Tunes for Transition: A Concert for Clean Energy.”

Featuring a student-made art display and a sound-ready stage, the event was organized by USFSP’s Repower America chapter and the Student Environmental Awareness Society (S.E.A.S.), and took about a month to put together. In the end, attendees were treated to a music-filled night by the water that also included a silent art auction, free catered food and solar power demonstrations.

Recycling makes headway in the USF St. Petersburg Residence Hall

Last year, the recycling program in the dorms was shut down due to students mixing their trash with A Residence Hall One bin from the original recycling program. However, students aren’t completely satisfied because they haven’t received everything they were promised, such as individual suite recycling bins. Only the first and second floors of Residence Hall One have the bins.

Proposal in motion for a multi-purpose student center at USF St. Petersburg

 

With the request of a multi-purpose student building, a new age could dawn on the University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP).

Throughout the past 10 years, USFSP has fought economic pressure. The campus started off as a commuter college USF St. Petersburg. Photo by Lily Reisman.  with barely enough parking. The students wanted more. A parking garage was built. Students wanted to live on campus. A residence hall was built. Students want more degrees. A science and technology building was designed. Now, students are calling for more housing and a place to kick back with their friends.
