In recent news, the issues of homosexuality and the war on women have risen to national coverage, especially with the President Obama’s public support of marriage equality.
Cause for these headlines is not the average conservative politician, but the religiously conservative person.
In 1994 Mitt Romney said “equality for gays and lesbians” must be “a mainstream concern.” He later commented on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell saying, “I am … convinced that it is the first in a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military.” In that same year he agreed to sponsor the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
Aldo Leopold’s marvelous conception of a “land ethic” expanded the notion of community and community ethics to include a wider circle than just fellow human beings (as if). This ethic has nurtured a remarkably gentle respect for wild things, a respect that has allowed coyotes to make their way among us in our urban places all over the country.
When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired Greg Schiano to be their new head coach in January, they were looking to install a new culture at One Buc Palace. After a disappointing 2011 finish in which the Bucs lost their last 10 games, the new regime is looking to create a culture of discipline and physicality.

Wow! Talk about March Madness… The last few days have presented a seismic shift in the National Football League. First on Monday, Peyton Manning, the biggest free agent in the history of football, signed with the Denver Broncos. With Manning in, that meant polarizing superstar Tim Tebow was out.
